Pinch A Penny
Reviews and Complaints
Terrible weekly pool service
I hired pinch a penny for weekly full service pool maintenance. The pool guy would either not come or simply not do anything when he would come.
I have attached pictures of the black algae that my pool has while having the monthly service with the pinch a penny. I canceled my monthly pool service with this company. The pinch a penny store that was servicing my pool was the one located on Sheridan street and sw 195 in Pembroke Pines.
I also had to be calling the store every week to complain about the ese rice not given. I found a local pool guy.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don’t get the monthly service with them.
Need additional services
I recently requested your services.
1) Since you initially came Wednesday but did show up the following Wednesday, I stopped payment on the 10/01/22 $130 monthly payment. After the next visit from last Friday, I will re-submit this payment.
2) There is a calcium deposit on both sides of the spa.
3) The overflow value needs checking as the rains from hurricane Ians deluge got stuck in the pool.
4) What is the cost of getting a new PDA for the Jandy, AquaLink Zodiac model 8265 remote control?
5) May I have a quote on repainting (two coats) and rescreening the pool cage with all screws replaced?
6) The pool vacuum probably stays in the deep end 80% of the time.

Verified Reviewer | Winter Garden, FloridaChlorine Container Policy
I have been a customer for 22 years and when I first got my chorine containers I had to give a REFUNDABLE deposit on the containers. I had nice new containers and went to Clermont for years because they refilled the same containers.
Later on they stopped and only did exchanges so I started going to the Winter Garden store because it was closer. I wasn't happy getting some cruddy containers occasionally but didn't have a choice. Last few times I noticed they kept refilling the containers I brought in which have some kind of sticky stuff on them that is very difficult to get off my hands, I talked to the fairly new owner today and asked if they only refilled containers now and he said yes so I asked for different or new containers he offered to try to clean the *** containers I had, I said I'd rather have different ones or new ones he said he could only sell me new ones at $9.00 apiece I said what about the deposit I put on my original ones he said he didn't recall them ever doing deposits. I ended up buying new ones because this sticky stuff was terrible even though I feel I should have had my deposit put towards the new containers.
Another gripe is corporate policy should be the same at all stores, for example it is possible I may want a refill at another store and they may only offer exchanges and I lose my nice new containers that I paid $18.00 for.
Bottom line is I should have been refunded my deposit or just given new containers for customer satisfaction. This really isn't about $18.00 but the principle of it.

False hours posted at a location
Open till 7pm, but closed at 6:53pm. Per iPhone time not a watch. The guy at the counter pointed at his watch and I pointed at my phone.
Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution
User's recommendation: Call to make sure this location will honor its hours of operation. Or, waste time driving there.

Verified Reviewer | Saint Augustine, FloridaUnauthorized charge for pool motor estimate
Staff at the Anastasia Island Pinch a Penny are wonderful, but the owner/manager (Lisa) has not been reasonable. They sent me an invoice for $125 for a diagnosis/estimate for a pool motor replacement last month.
When I called them about the invoice, I was told they would get back to me, but they did not. Instead, they charged my credit card a few days later without my authorization. When I realized the charge was on my statement I reached out, and although they apologized for charging me without consent, they would not remove the charge.
For several days, I called and waited for a response from the manager to reach a compromise for half the amount to cover the tech's expenses to come give me an estimate, but she never returned my call. Finally, after multiple calls, I was told she would not reimburse me nor take my compromised offer.
- Wonderful & friendly staff
- Unresponsive
- Unreasonable manager
- Overpriced pool motor
Preferred solution: Price reduction

Not happy
I received a sales paper and went to use the Bogo 50% off coupon on Suncoast Gold 2.5 liter liquid chlorine. I was told I had to purchase one at full price and the second one would be 50% off. No where on this coupon does it say that.
- Decent product
- Would not honor coupon

Wont service hot tun
Purchased a new hot tub first part of 2021, in Oct/Nov of same year, started having problems with circulation of the hot tub. Went to PP to talk to technician, gave us some things to trouble shoot ( change filters etc) did all we were told to do.
still was not working correctly. Completed work order in Dec of 2021 was told someone would come out to check it to see what was going on. Here we are in April, havent been able to use our hot tub all winter.
And still have not seen anyone come to my home to service our hot tub. Of course no corporate number to call to complain and calling the store and even going to the store still cannot get anyone to come service the hot tub.
Preferred solution: Deliver product or service ordered

Verified Reviewer | Jupiter, FloridaThank You
I just ordered a Pentair model 460934 heat pump with installation from store #89 in Jupiter, Florida.
Be also advised that Joe Trageser (CPC 145****) is the only Pentair vendor in North Palm Beach county who responded to all my questions, provided accurate assements and submitted a proposal that included all electrical, plumbing and haul away services.
I want to thank Pinch-A-Penny Corporate for having a responsive, professional and exceptional franchise in Jupiter, Florida.

There was a type O on my previous message. The amount of pool water tested is 20,000 gallons.
I have heard the same thing from 2 other people in my neighborhood. I poured a little from PAP in a jar and will compare to the chlorine I used to get from another pool place.
Since using PAP, my pool is green a lot, where when I went to my old place, it was always clear. Unfortunately my old place quit water testing with machine and went to a test strip only.
Same issue here...the chlorine I bought last year was always dark yellow. The jugs I have refilled over the past few months are the color of lemonade, like it’s being diluted.
Don’t want to accuse them of doing it but I am suspicious. ...Plantation FL.
Same issue here. I can barely smell the chlorine in the jug
